WGES Weekly Update for Feb 1 - 5

Hello Willow Grove Families! Here are announcements and calendar items for our first week in February, 2010:

Thank you to all our families that supported the 2nd annual Willow Grove Run 4 Fun! It was a wonderful morning. Prizes will be distributed following the mid-winter break (There is no school for students February 15 - 19, 2010). If you have not turned in your fund-raising form, please bring it this Monday, February 1, to school. Prizes will be ordered this week and we would like to acknowledge your child's hard work and support for our school.

Poway Unified is proud of its two-year kindergarten program, PEPP. This program is designed for children whose birthdays fall after the December 1st cut-off enrollment date for kindergarten. For information about the program, contact Nancy Dannhauser at ndannhauser@powayusd.com . The waiting list opens Monday, February 1. The best way to enroll is by contacting Nancy Dannhauser, or by stopping in the Willow Grove Office to obtain an enrollment form and program flyer.

The yearbook committee is excited to begin taking orders for our 2009-2010 WGES yearbook. Flyers will be going home this week. We are offering love lines, icons for your messages, and page sponsorships. To qualify for early bird pricing, turn your orders in by Friday, February 12th to the yearbook order box in the office. Yearbooks are $19 until February 12th, and then will be available through March 24th for $24. Be sure to get your order in early. Yearbooks are available on a pre-order basis only. This is a great memory book for our 2nd year as Grizzlies!

Mark your calendar for the next PTA Association meeting on February 26th at 6:00 PM, prior to the Grizzly Culture Night. Come hear about the exciting events for next fall, and help elect the Nominating Committee for the 2010-2011 Executive Board Team. Current team members will be available to answer questions about their roles if you are interesting in joining to help plan next year. Please plan on staying that night for Grizzly Culture Night from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Travel the world right here at Willow Grove! It is not too late to join the PTA! We are proud that more than 450 of our parents and friends have supported the school through their PTA membership. Membership envelopes are available in the school foyer during school hours.

Congratulations to Boxtop winners, the Gresham family, who were awarded the PTA parking spot privileges at Friday Flag! Enjoy your privileges for the month of February!

Parents, thank you for sending your children to school with healthy snacks for lunch and snack breaks. Our children spend a long part of each day at school, and nourished tummies make focused learners!

Save the date! Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 5:00 - 9:00 PM is the Grizzly Street Scene! Presented by the Willow Grove Educational Foundation, this free event will be fun for the whole family! A flyer was sent home with your child last week. If you are interested in helping with auction items, contact Blair Golden at blairhope@yahoo.com .
